With the first chill of Autumn comes energy to renew practices that maybe fell away during Summer fun. Check out the most popular classes of September, and get back into the habit of regular creativity!

1. The Pareidolia Project: A Creative Drawing Experience

Illustration of two upright figures facing each other, drawn somewhat abstractedly and in a shocking blueish white, surrounded by pale, smokey lines against a deep blue background
You’ll be amazed at the figures you see in something as simple as crumpled paper, leading to vibrant, active drawings like this one.

Pareidolia is the tendency to see faces and other familiar images in random places, such as clouds, tree trunks, and scribbled lines. This class uses that phenomenon as the impetus for drawing and sophisticated final pieces.

Brent Eviston is a Master Artist and instructor who is deeply passionate about teaching and drawing. He focuses on both traditional drawing and contemporary explorations, and offers an extensive series of core drawing classes, as well as several classes on figure drawing.

What Makes it Special

All you need for this class is something to crumple, pencil and paper. Some basic drawing experience may be helpful, but the instruction is fully accessible to beginners.

What Students Are Saying

“I already loved looking for shapes in scribbles or paint spots, but working in 3D brings a whole new dimension to the exercise. This not only allows you to develop your creativity but also your drawing technique. It's a very interesting approach and I enjoyed following the teacher's whole process.” -Mlle Mirabelle

2. Color Theory for Procreate: Improve Your Drawing in 3 Simple Steps

Illustration of two people overlooking a beach from a hilltop, one pointing a camera at ruins on the beach, and surrounded by shrubs and berries and hair blowing in the wind
Digital drawing comes with its own challenges when it comes to color–learn three tips for meeting them head-on.

Color can be broken down into three simple principles: hue, value, and saturation. This class helps to demystify color theory in Procreate to guide you toward the palettes that suit your style and level up your storytelling.

Ira Marcks is a cartoonist whose work is seen everywhere from Weird Tales magazine to the European Research Council. Ira offers classes on cartooning basics, character design, concept art, and comic making.

What Makes it Special

Rather than touching on every aspect of digital drawing, this class concentrates on color theory and exploration specifically in Procreate. No need for special drawing or digital skills–the instruction is designed for beginners.

What Students Are Saying

“I think another major highlight to the lessons are that they are short, sweet, and to the point, while still being very engaging and interesting. I think the instructor really knows the subject and is passionate and displays great teaching skill because a great teacher can take a rather complicated subject and teach it simply. And that's what was demonstrated in this class.” -Ash Chapman

3. iPhone Photography Master Class: See Light. Feel Emotion. Tell Stories.

Grid of photos, two down and four across, featuring a family hugging and playing in golden sunlight, surrounded in soft, natural tones in an outdoor setting
Using photos with personal meaning is a great way to learn to use light and composition to add drama and depth to your work.

A good photograph is much more than a visual record of a thing in time. It should evoke drama and feeling and memory, but that’s easier said than done. This class is all about enlivening beautiful iPhone photography through light, composition, and focus.

Rose Nene is a photographer and videographer with experience in food, event, and product photography. Part of her mission is sharing her hard-earned lessons, helping aspiring photographers to avoid pitfalls and advance their skills.

What Makes it Special

You’ll ultimately create a short series of photos with personal meaning to you, such as your home, family, or favorite activity. Instead of coming away with just one example of your skills, you’ll have a visual poem over which to develop your use of light and composition.

What Students Are Saying

“I absolutely loved this course, Rose! Thank you so much for all the effort and care you put into sharing your knowledge. Your tips on lighting, composition, and posing were incredibly helpful, especially your insight that it’s not just about capturing a moment—but capturing it in the best light possible. That really stuck with me and changed how I approach family photography. Your guidance feels so thoughtful and approachable, and I'm truly grateful for everything you’ve shared.” -Marinela Malcheva, taken from Rose’s class iPhone Photography: Capture Natural and Adorable Family Photos

What Students Are Saying

“This class is definitely best suited for beginners, but even though I have some more advanced knowledge, I found the teacher very engaging and I appreciated that he delivered the information in a friendly, supportive manner. I also really appreciated that he referred to examples from multiple genres and styles of videos... This teacher seems like he cares both about the organization and business of contention creation, but also about the creativity and artistic value of the act, and that comes through even in a relatively short class. I'd say this was a worthwhile watch, even for someone a little above beginner status.” -Bee, taken from Aaron’s class From Clueless to Content Creator: Make Engaging Videos that Attract an Audience
